Questions for discussion.
Pollution
Pollution has been a very big topic over the past quarter of a century. The government has been regulating many things we see and use to protect the ozone, and the air we breath. Industry and private citizens have been put under strict laws and codes to prevent thier waste form raveging our natural resources. I must admit, bieng from Pittsburgh, the air is cleaner and the rivers are clearer than they where 25 years ago.
They have outlawed freon and replaced it with "ozone safe refridgerants". We now have emmision controll divices on all our new motor vehicles, and yearly inspections to ensure these devices are working properly. This is good for the health and welfare of our great nation
We as a nation must follow the polution laws that govern these things
or settle for the alternitives, and they are stiff fines and/or imprisonment. We as consumers and industry pay the price to follow these laws, if not for the penalties, for our families future on this great planet.
I have only one problem with all of this. Its not the added expense that comes with the responsibilities. After all its for the right reasons, but where is the governments responsibilities?
As we fight and fund the war against pollution the government sends a rocket, space shuttle, satalite up into the heavens. Is there any emission controll devices on these "motor vehicles"? I think not. Could this be our "Ozone" problem? Well mabey this is a sacrifice for the benifit of man kind?
I am not against space exploration, please don't get me wrong. I just think, if we are tasked in the private and industrial sectors, the goverment should be held to the same standards.

Can we live without firearms?
This question gives me chills when I think about it. I say no!!! Some people have the strange idea that if we remove firearms from our country these things will happen:
1. Violent crimes will decline.
2. Schools will be safer for our children.
3. Hunted wild game will live longer and happier lives.
4. Gangs will become one big happy familily.
Its starting to sound silly isn't it. Well thats what amending/removing the 2nd and 14th admendment sounds like to me.
The truth is criminal's prefer unarmed victims. Criminals will manufacture new instruments for crime or get them from a booming black market, due to the outlaw of firearms sales to the public.
Movies, music videos, and video games will always portray violence and weapons. Lets face it, in these days it sells. Unfortunately some of todays youth wish to act-out life styles portrayed in the media, with no real understanding of its dangers or consequences.
What wild game hunters and thier families use for food will create greater damage to our farm crops, and our vehicles on the the highways. If they don't starve to death through the harsh winters due to over population and shrinking natural habitat. Fathers and sons will have yet one more bonding tool lost to societie's narrow mindedness.
Responsibility and accountability seems to be the answers for me. Parents teaching thier children saftey and the respect of guns, and what the can do to human life outside of what the media may portray. Stiffer sentences for the gun laws we already have. Better background checks for gun dealers, especially in the inner cities.
Giving up the 2nd and 14th admendments just goes to show one thing. We are not smart enough, mature enough, strong enough, nor responsible enough to meet our forefather's goals, wishes, and standards. If this is what civilized people do, then I'd rather be uncivilized.
The whole idea makes me sick!!!!!
